Kia ora Awhi community,
We wanted to share with you our next big step.
We have been developing the private Awhi platform as a place where you can come and connect with other parents, where you feel safe and understood and feel able to share freely.
We launched this community late last year and over time hundreds of parents of medically fragile, neurodivergent and disabled tamariki have signed up to be part of it.
If you have been on the private platform you’ll have noticed that we don’t have hundreds of people here talking to each other - that's OK, we're having amazing private conversations in Instagram messages and Facebook messages and by email - but it has led us to have a big think about why that is.
We've realised that we launched too early - there have been bugs and we haven't launched the functions we planned to make it a unique space.
So, we've decided to close the Awhi private platform while we work on making it that place we want it to be. A place where everyone feels comfortable sharing and everything runs smoothly.
Over the next few months, we'll be working away improving the functions and creating new ways to connect and explore.
We're excited to be doing this - we want this platform to be the best it can be.
We'll be continuing to develop our blogs and resources on the website and communicating through Facebook and Instagram and this newsletter.
We're also stepping up our advocacy - so watch this space.
Thank you for your support. We're in touch with a lot of you and love getting your feedback and comments.
Keep it up.
Arohanui, Elizabeth, Emily, Ma'ao, and the Awhi team.
